Case Study
The original EVNS platform was a breakthrough for Nova Scotia real estate, but it had been built under an intense five-month timeline, meaning there was always unfinished business when it came to realizing the full vision. While functional, it lacked the refinements, speed, and depth needed to create the best real estate experience on the market.
Competing platforms like Viewpoint and Realtor.ca checked off some boxes — offering either broad data access, basic search features, or standard property filters — but none offered everything in one place with a user-first, collaborative experience at its core.
Managing over 700,000 property records across Nova Scotia presented a major challenge. Delivering that much data with speed, clarity, and performance required a sophisticated UI/UX and infrastructure rethink.
The healthcare industry has long been burdened by outdated Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Major players like Epic Systems and Cerner, while dominant, have struggled with clunky interfaces, limited interoperability, and extremely high operational costs. In Canada, platforms like Telus Health have also faced challenges in modernizing quickly enough to meet the needs of patients and providers.
These legacy systems limit patient access, fragment data across providers, and stifle the adoption of AI. The result is an inefficient, costly healthcare environment where both patients and professionals are underserved by the technology meant to support them.
A modern, secure, and intelligent alternative was desperately needed — one that could evolve with the healthcare system rather than hold it back.
While EVNS 3.0 raised the bar for web-based real estate search, engagement metrics revealed a gap: mobile session times were consistently lower than desktop, falling short of targets.
While the desktop experience exceeded industry benchmarks, users browsing on mobile were not getting the same level of performance, usability, or engagement. It became clear that responsive web design alone wasn't enough — users wanted a truly native mobile experience built for intuitive property exploration on the go.
EVNS needed a mobile app that delivered the same feature-rich experience as the desktop platform — but optimized for speed, simplicity, and real-time interaction.
Many real estate advisors lacked a reliable digital presence. Some paid out of pocket for expensive personal websites with little support, while others relied solely on general shop or brokerage sites that didn't showcase their personal brand or drive leads.
Most struggled with ongoing updates, SEO performance, or tech support when issues arose. There was no centralized, scalable solution that supported their individual growth and integrated cleanly into the broader Engel & Völkers digital ecosystem.
The opportunity was clear: create an affordable, high-performance website solution that empowered each advisor while strengthening the platform as a whole.
